
The HARTING Technology Group, a leader in industrial connection technology, has announced its support for the extension of the IEC 63171-7 standard, aimed at defining a new connector standard for Single-Pair Ethernet (SPE). This extension introduces a range of connectors built around a uniform SPE data container, which is essential for the global standardization and interoperability of SPE systems.
With a long-standing commitment to the development and implementation of advanced connectors, HARTING has positioned itself at the forefront of this technology. The newly defined IEC 63171-7 SPE connectors will facilitate universal device connectivity, aligning with the vision of an All Electric Society. The optimized compatibility of these connectors promotes consistent communication, enhances operational efficiency, reduces costs, and ultimately boosts productivity across various sectors—not just within industrial manufacturing.
HARTING’s Managing Director of Customized Solutions, Jörg Scheer, emphasized the significance of this development, stating, “We are proud to be part of this important initiative and to actively shape the future of convergent connectivity for an all-electric society. The initiative spearheaded by the PROFIBUS Nutzerorganisation e.V. (PNO) to expand the IEC 63171-7 standard represents a crucial move for the success of Single Pair Ethernet. HARTING plans to maintain close collaboration with the PNO, international standardization bodies, and other partners to facilitate the implementation of this expansion and maximize the benefits Of SPE technology.
