ABB has announced the acquisition of Sensorfact BV, a Dutch energy management company. This acquisition is expected to expand ABB’s digital energy management solutions, enhancing operational optimization for industrial customers.
The acquisition, set to be completed in the first quarter of 2025, will provide ABB with AI-based energy management SaaS solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises. Since its establishment in 2017, Sensorfact has grown rapidly and now serves over 1,900 customers across Europe.
Massimiliano Cifalitti, President of ABB’s Smart Power division, stated, “With this acquisition, we can leverage big data and AI technology to make electrical distribution and energy management more efficient and intelligent.”
This acquisition is seen as ABB’s strategic move to address the global demand for improved energy efficiency. The International Energy Agency (IEA) recently emphasized in a report the need to double the pace of energy efficiency improvements over the next decade.
Through this acquisition, ABB is expected to provide comprehensive digital solutions that support industrial customers in improving energy efficiency, reducing maintenance costs, and increasing productivity.
